Traumatic experiences may become trapped deep within the body, with those who are affected sometimes completely unaware of the existence of unresolved trauma, resulting in anxiety and stress.  Yoga can support recovery by developing body awareness and mindfulness, safety in the body and  more. Learn safe practices to work with trauma, anxiety and stress from a yoga philosophical perspectives combined with modern modalities working with body and mind.

Svastha Yoga Therapy

This professional program on yoga therapy brings you the most effective aspects of traditional yoga (based on the teachings of Krishnamacharya) and Ayurveda combined with modern medicine. Designed especially for yoga teachers and advanced practitioners, the program should also be of interest to people from related fields.

Specific guidelines for different conditions and general treatment principles will be detailed, empowering you to safely and effectively address disabilities and ill-health through yoga. The goal is to enable participants to integrate newly acquired knowledge immediately in their teaching, particularly in private sessions.

The program is delivered in 7 intensive modules (5 days for each module) with a flexible structure. Each module may be attended independently and certificates will be issued for each module.

It's possible to start your Yoga Therapy journey in this module and follow the rest of the modules in any country that offers the Svastha modules or online (see svastha.net)

This module will be presented ONLINE and in Dutch by Anneke Sips. Price: € 500,- ex VAT.

  2. Stress and trauma
    a. Neurobiology of the stress response

    c. Adapting yoga for clients with past trauma (trauma aware yoga/ trauma informed yoga)
  3. Mantra meditation as a therapeutic tool

    b. Common barriers and questions from students
  4. Positive psychology practices, including scope and application.

    c. Loving kindness
  5. Compassion Based practices, including scope and application.
  6. Sacredness, meaning, and devotion (Isvara
    Pranidhana and related practices)
  7. Ritual practices and symbolism
    a. Traditional and modern rituals, concepts and psychology
    b. Creating simple rituals in yoga practice
  8. The gunas (satva, rajas, tamas) and their role
    as a framework for mental health.
  9. Safety considerations for the yoga teacher. Managing the
    teacher-student, therapist-client relationship.

Certification

This module is good for a 40h certificate of yoga alliance and counts towards the total of 500h certificate with Svastha Yoga and Ayurveda.

You will also receive a certificate of participation from Network Yoga Therapy.

Extra

Every student of Anneke, is invited to 'The Bridge' membership. So, you as student of the Svastha Yoga Therapy modules too. The Bridge is an online space where we meet for weekly practice sessions and monthly meet-ups. Expect a multidisciplinary group of healthcare and yoga professionals who think out of the box and who like to connect with you!

Anneke Sips

Anneke Sips is a Svastha Yoga Teacher (YACEP) and Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) who has been working in the field of psychiatry since 1998 as registered nurse. Now, she works in psychiatry as a yoga therapist.

With her holistic and compassionate approach, she supports many clients in private sessions and group therapy. She is passionate about supporting clients and students integrating yoga in their life and work She enjoys studying with the Mohan family and teaching the Svastha programs.
